Chicago Sky Welcomes Back Astou Ndour-Fall

CHICAGO (February 7, 2023) — The Chicago Sky announced today the team has signed center Astou Ndour-Fall. Per team policy, the terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

“We are very excited to welcome Astou back to Chicago,” Chicago Sky General Manager and Head Coach James Wade said. “It seems it was just yesterday when she was one of the integral parts of winning our championship in 2021. It’s refreshing to have a familiar face to reinstate back into our team, and we can’t wait to watch her do great things in a Sky uniform this year.”

Ndour-Fall rejoins the Sky for her third stint (2018-19, 2021) after playing the 2020 season with Dallas and sitting out the 2022 season. She has played three out of her last four seasons with Chicago. During the Sky’s 2021 championship run, Ndour-Fall averaged 6.6 points, 4.8 rebounds in 17.1 minutes.

She is currently playing for Italian club Schio, where she’s currently averaging 12.9 points, 8.2 rebounds in 24.0 minutes in Italian League play. In EuroLeague, Ndour-Fall averages 11.3 points and 6.3 rebounds in 27.4 minutes of play.

The 6’5” center has also played for Spar Gran Canaria (2010-14), Fenerbahçe Spor Kulübü (2014-15), Perfumerías Avenida (2015-16), Passalacqua Ragusa (2016-18), CBK Mersin (2018-19), Dynamo Kursk (2019-20), Hatay (2020-21) and Umana Reyer Venezia (2021-22).

Ndour-Fall was originally drafted by the San Antonio Stars out of Gran Canaria, Spain with the second round, No. 16 overall pick in the 2014 WNBA Draft. Before the WNBA, Ndour-Fall’s professional basketball career began at the age of 16 when she joined the Spanish Youth National Team. Born in Dakar, Senegal, she is a decorated two-time Olympian representing Spain (2020, 2016), a FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup bronze medalist (2018), named to All-Europe First Team (2016), EuroBasket All-World Cup First-Team (2018), FIBA EuroBasket MVP (2018), FIBA EuroBasket First-Team (2019) and Italian Supercup Winner and MVP (2023), among a plethora of Ndour-Fall’s accomplishments.
