Chicago Sky Announce 2024 “Nike Basketball Camps with Chicago Sky”

CHICAGO (March 4, 2024) — The Chicago Sky officially announced, in a debut collaboration with Nike Sports Camps, 2024 summer basketball camps for Chicagoland youth.

Built to expand their footprint in Chicagoland youth communities, the Sky aim to foster and engage young athletes through this partnership with Nike Sports Camps. Four basketball camps will take place throughout the summer in June, July and August at the Wintrust Sports Complex and Intentional Sports Complex for girls and boys ages 7-15; including one girls-only camp. The camps will offer instruction on basketball skills, leadership development, character building, and health & fitness. In addition to camp instruction, campers will be awarded Sky tickets, Nike and Sky merchandise, and more.

The camps will be coached and spearheaded by former NBA player and current Chicago Sky staff member, Awvee Storey. As the former director of basketball strategy and personnel for the Sky, Storey has also held prominent roles with the Connecticut Sun and Washington Mystics, serving as the director of player development. Additionally, he has contributed as an assistant coach for the Capital City Go-Go during its inaugural year and with the Maine Celtics in the NBA G League.

With a decade-long tenure as a director for Nike Basketball Camps in the Washington D.C. area, Storey is thrilled to extend his passion for working with kids to his hometown of Chicago through the Sky organization.

“During my time as a coach, I have worked with players of all ages and skill levels,” Storey said. “My perspective as a former player will allow me to relate to youth basketball players and offer a holistic approach to coaching. Participants will have the opportunity to stay present, learn new basketball skills, meet new friends, and develop as complete players, on and off the court.”

“The partnership between the Chicago Sky and Nike Sports Camps marks an exciting chapter in our commitment to youth basketball development,” Seth Roberts, VP of Basketball, Nike Sports Camps said. “By joining forces, we are expanding access to high-quality basketball instruction and creating unforgettable experiences for young athletes in Chicagoland. We are proud to be a part of this initiative and look forward to seeing the positive impact it will have on the basketball community.”
