Sky Sign Allazia Blockton to Training Camp Contract

CHICAGO – The Chicago Sky has signed 6-foot-0 guard Allazia Blockton to a training camp contract, the team announced.

Blockton recently completed her collegiate career at Marquette University as the program’s all-time leading scorer. She is the only player, male or female, in Marquette history to reach the 2,000-point mark, posting a total of 2,204 career points.

“We feel like Allazia is a player that could’ve easily been drafted,” Sky General Manager and Head Coach James Wade said. “We feel her talent level is that high. We love her versatility and length. We look forward to seeing her compete for a roster spot.”

In her senior season, Blockton averaged 14.3 points per game and was named BIG EAST Sixth-Woman of the Year and BIG EAST Scholar-Athlete of the Year for the second straight season. The Milwaukee, Wisconsin native’s 2018-19 performance also earned her WBCA NCAA Division I Coaches’ All-America honors for the third time, marking Blockton as the only Golden Eagle in the basketball program’s history to receive the selection in three consecutive seasons.

Sky General Manager and Head Coach James Wade and his coaching staff will open training camp on Sunday, May 5. Fans can watch the 2019 Chicago Sky on their home court of Wintrust Arena on June 1 at 7:00 p.m., when the team tips off against the Seattle Storm.
