The Chicago Sky hit the road on Monday, Aug.10 for a three-game stretch, beginning with a matchup against the Seattle Storm at Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle.

Chicago enters the contest looking to rebound after a close loss to the Indiana Fever in the final game of a five-game homestand. The Sky face Seattle for the second time this season after earning a 95-90 victory in their first meeting.

In that matchup, Courtney Vandersloot helped Chicago control the closing minutes before Natasha Cloud sealed the win at the free-throw line with 26.5 seconds remaining. Azurá Stevens led the Sky in scoring with 20 points, including 18 in the first half, while Sydney Taylor added 17 points. 

Seattle was led by rookie Flau’jae Johnson in that outing, who finished with 25 points, six rebounds, four assists and three steals. Johnson has been one of the league’s top-performing rookies this season, ranking second in the draft class in scoring and reaching the 20-point mark in six games.

First-time All-Star center Dominique Malonga also made an impact for the Storm, recording a 16-point, 12-rebound double-double. Rookie Awa Fam contributed 14 points, seven rebounds and two blocks. 

Malonga continues to be a consistent presence for Seattle throughout the season, leading the Storm in both scoring and rebounding at 16.9 points and 8.7 rebounds per game while shooting a team-best 50.7% from the field. Natasha Hiedeman, in her first season with Seattle, is averaging 15.9 points and 4.7 assists per game. Johnson is averaging just under 14 points per game, while Fam is contributing 10.8 points and 6.1 rebounds per contest.

With both teams looking to build momentum to secure a playoff spot, Monday’s rematch provides Chicago an opportunity to respond after its latest loss while Seattle looks to even the season series.
