The first meeting featured 15 lead changes and 11 ties, with five Sky players scoring in double figures. Chicago shot 49.3% from the field, 52.2% from three-point range and 86.7% from the free-throw line, but came up just short in the closing seconds.

Chicago enters Wednesday's contest following a home win over the Los Angeles Sparks on Friday and a road loss to the Atlanta Dream on Sunday. The defeat marked the Sky's 10th single-digit loss of the season, but the team continues to show progress as it finds its rhythm and competes in close games.

Against Atlanta, rookie guard Sydney Taylor delivered another standout performance, tying the game at 91 with a three-pointer with 6.2 seconds remaining. Taylor finished with 18 points, three rebounds and two assists, while also knocking down a halfcourt buzzer-beater to end the first half. She has now scored at least 15 points in six consecutive games.

Veteran Azurá Stevens led Chicago with 20 points and nine rebounds while shooting 66.7% from the field and 50% from beyond the arc. It marked her third 20-point performance of the season.

Entering Wednesday's matchup, Kamilla Cardoso leads the Sky in scoring at 14.2 points per game. Courtney Vandersloot paces the team with 4.3 assists per contest.

New York is led by seven-time All-Star Breanna Stewart, who averages a team-high 20.6 points while also leading the Liberty in steals (1.3) and blocks (1.3) per game. Jonquel Jones ranks second on the team in scoring at 14.9 points per game while shooting 49.6% from the field. She also leads the Liberty with 9.2 rebounds and averages 2.5 assists per contest. Sabrina Ionescu leads New York with 4.2 assists per game and adds 13.2 points per outing.
