Chicago Acquires No. 8 Overall Pick in 2024 WNBA Draft

CHICAGO (February 19, 2024) — The Chicago Sky announced today the team has acquired 2024 No. 8 overall first round draft pick from Los Angeles in exchange for Julie Allemand (via sign-and-trade), rights to Li Yueru and Chicago’s 2025 third round draft pick.

“We are continuing to build assets by securing draft capital for the upcoming years,” Chicago Sky General Manager Jeff Pagliocca said. “An additional first round pick in 2024 will allow us to draft yet another valuable player and add a foundational piece to this roster.”

Chicago now owns the following picks in the 2024 WNBA Draft: No. 3 overall (first round), No. 8 overall (first round), No. 13 overall (first pick, second round).

Allemand opted out of the 2023 season to focus on her commitments with the Belgium National Team. She was originally drafted No. 33 overall by Indiana in the 2016 WNBA Draft. She was traded to the Sky in 2022.

In 25 games with the Sky in 2022, Allemand averaged 3.0 points, 3.4 assists and 1.6 rebounds. In 47 career games with Indiana and Chicago, Allemand holds career averages of 5.6 points and 4.5 assists.

Li spent the 2022 season with the Sky, averaging 1.8 points and 1.5 rebounds on the year. She was previously drafted as the 11th pick of the third round (No. 35 overall) by Atlanta in the 2019 WNBA Draft. She made her WNBA debut with the Sky on May 28, 2022. Li is currently playing overseas with Beşiktaş in Turkey.
