On Thursday, the Chicago Sky (5-5) travels to Mohegan Sun Arena to take on the Connecticut Sun (7-2) at 6 pm CT. This marks the second time this season that these teams will play each other. Chicago is in search of a win to even the season series 1-1 after losing a close match up earlier this season 67-65.

On June 11, the Sky played the Sun for the first time in the 2015 season. Elena Delle Donne dominated and led all scorers with 27 points. Guards Cappie Pondexter and Courtney Vandersloot added 14 and 13 points, respectively. Alex Bentley led the Sun with 16 points, while Kelsey Bone added 14 points and grabbed 12 rebounds.

The Sky struggled from the free throw line, only shooting 67%, while the Sun relied heavily on their free throw shooting to win the game. In the final seconds of the fourth quarter, Chicago guard Cappie Pondexter scored on a driving layup to tie the game 65-65. On a quick inbound, Connecticut’s Alyssa Thomas went the full length of the court and was fouled by Courtney Vandersloot. Thomas hit both of her free throws winning the game for the Sun 67-65. Connecticut shot 83% from the line for the night.

Tonight the Sky will again look for strong offensive contributions from Delle Donne, Pondexter and Vandersloot but it is at the defensive end of the floor that Head Coach Pokey Chatman would like to see her players focus increase. The Sun will be without center Kelsey Bone who was suspended after a flagrant foul in their most recent game.

In addition to evening the season series (0-1), the Sky aim to even the all-time series record of 16-17. Fans can watch the game on WNBA Live Access.

The Sky will return home to Allstate Arena on July 10 at 7:30 pm CT to play the Minnesota Lynx led by WNBA 2014 MVP Maya Moore for Youth Sports Night. Tickets are available here.
