Thu, Aug 27, 2015, 4:17 PM

On Sunday, August 30 the Chicago Sky will face the Connecticut Sun at Allstate Arena with tip-off set for 6:00 pm CT. Chicago will look to use the momentum of its two game winning streak to top Connecticut.

Sunday will be the fourth time these teams have competed this season. Chicago currently leads the season series 2-1. The Sun narrowly escaped with a 67-65 victory in the team’s first meeting on June 11th. Connecticut was led by 16 points from Alex Bentley.

The Sky fought back on July 2 defeating Connecticut 77-74. Allie Quigley led the Sky with 19 points, and Courtney Vandersloot added 16. Bentley led all scorers with a then career-high 25 points.

The teams met for the third time on July 12. Chicago dominated on its home court defeating the Sun 96-76. Cappie Pondexter led all scorers with 29 points and dished out 7 assists. Delle Donne and Jessica Breland also scored in double-digits with 12 points apiece. Kelsey Bone added 18 points for Connecticut.

In the July 12 contest, Chicago out-rebounded Connecticut 31-19. Rebounding has been an important factor in the team’s success this season. As of August 25, the Sky is ranked second in the league in rebounding. In addition, Elena Delle Donne is ranked second individually averaging 8.8 rebounds per game. Chicago will need to be consistent in grabbing boards on Sunday to secure a third victory over the sun.

While Chicago is high in the ranks in rebounding, Connecticut is ranked higher than Chicago in terms of assists per game. The Sky will look to Vandersloot to lead them in ball movement in the upcoming contest. The point guard currently leads the league in assists per game with 5.8. Her direction on the court will guide Chicago to a win.
