The Chicago Sky fell to the New York Liberty on Saturday, Aug. 29 in the final matchup between the two teams this season, taking place in Barclays Center in Brooklyn. The Liberty secured a 19-point victory following Chicago’s close and thrilling win over New York just a little over a week ago.

The loss brings the Sky to 15-25 on the season and heading into the FIBA break, and 37-41 against New York all time. Despite the result, the four-game series between these two teams epitomized Chicago’s relentlessness all season long.

Natasha Cloud led the Sky offensively one week removed from helping the Sky clinch their upset victory over New York. She scored 14 points, connecting on 75% of her field-goal attempts. This marks the fourth time this season Cloud has shot over 70% from the field. The guard is connecting at a career-high 49% from the field this season. Fellow veteran Courtney Vandersloot rounded out the box score with eight points, five rebounds, six assists and a block. She reached 200 career blocks in the outing. 

Sydney Taylor continued her electric rookie season in yet another double-figure performance, marking the 22nd one of the season. Tonight's performance continued to show off her dominance on the court as Taylor dropped 13 points and grabbed three boards. 

The Sky were ultimately outscored tonight by New York’s bench, 40-16. Han Xu powered New York with a career-high 19 points, shooting 6 for 8 from the field. Breanna Stewart came in hot with 13 points, nine rebounds, two steals and two blocks. 

The Chicago Sky resume the season on Thursday, Sept. 17 as they return to home court to face off against the Washington Mystics in Wintrust Arena. The game tips off at 7 p.m. CT and will be broadcast locally on The U.
