Quigley's 3-Point Performance Not Enough as Sky Fall to Wings, 76-80

GAME HIGHLIGHTS INCLUDE

● Already Chicago’s all-time leader in three-pointers, Sky guard Allie Quigley moved to 17th all-time in career three-pointers made in the WNBA on Tuesday, as she knocked down seven triples during Chicago’s 76-80 loss to Dallas. Her performance from beyond the arc also matched the franchise’s single-game record in made threes set by Stacey Dales in 2007.

● Not only did Quigley log a season-high in points scored (27 points), she set a franchise record for single-game points scored by a reserve player and matched the WNBA’s single-game points scored by a reserve player record.

● Three Sky players scored in double figures against the Wings, as Quigley (27 points), forward Kahleah Copper (16 points) and center Azurá Stevens (14 points) led the effort on offense.

● Sky guard Courtney Vandersloot recorded her third consecutive game with double-digit assists. Tonight, she dished out 12 assists in 30 minutes of action.

● Chicago center Stefanie Dolson had a season-high in blocks (4), with her previous high this season (2 blocks) having occurred on multiple occasions.

KEY RUNS

● Dallas kicked off tonight’s action with a 12-4 run over a span of roughly five minutes against Chicago in the first quarter.

● Late in the first quarter, the Sky went on an 11-0 run to trim Seattle’s lead to just one with 1:12 to play in the opening quarter.

● Chicago surged to a 17-4 run midway through the second quarter, giving the team a 32-28 lead over Dallas.

● To start the fourth quarter, the Wings went on a 12-2 run to propel their lead to 67-56 with just over seven minutes to go in the game.

● Trailing by 12 points late in the fourth quarter, the Sky had an 8-0 run that brought its late-game deficit to four points.

 

KEY STATS

● Quigley led all players with seven points in the first quarter, and finished with an impressive early stat line of: 2 for 2 from the field, 1 for 1 from beyond the arc and 2 for 2 from the free-throw line. On the night, she had XXX points.

● Dallas shot 38.5% from the field, led by forward Allisha Gray (53.8%) while Chicago shot 41.7% from the floor as a team with Quigley at the forefront (56.3%) for the Sky.

● The Sky outscored the Wings 42-38 in points in the paint, but were out-rebounded 4-11.

● Both teams were efficient from the line tonight, as Chicago went a perfect 8 for 8 on its free-throws while Dallas finished 13 for 15 from the line.

 

CHICAGO NOTES

● Chicago’s eight first-half blocks are the most the team has recorded in a half since swatting away 10 shots against New York on July 20, 2013.

● Approximately 3,902 Sky fans attended Tuesday’s back-and-forth game between the Sky and the Wings.

● Tonight, Stevens made her first start of 2021. Last year, she started 13 games for the Sky before an injury sidelined her. In 2020, the Sky went 9-4 in games that Stevens was part of the starting five.

● Chicago forced 15 Dallas turnovers tonight and consequently, scored 14 points off turnovers.
