In the final game of their current three-game road trip, the Chicago Sky have the chance to take the regular-season series against the Seattle Storm and snap a three-game losing streak.

Trailing in the all-time series 22-30, the Sky secured win No. 22 on July 15 with notable performances from Azurá Stevens and Sydney Taylor. Stevens put up 20 points, with 18 coming in the first half, while Taylor chipped in 17 points. It was veteran Natasha Cloud who sealed the game from the free-throw line with 26.5 seconds left for a 95-90 victory.

The most recent matchup, which came just a few days ago on Aug. 15, featured a strong showing from the Storm. Recording her 10th double-double of the season, Dominique Malonga dominated with 26 points and 10 rebounds. In her second year, the 20-year-old center leads her team with 17.4 points per game.

Beside Malonga is Natisha Heideman, who is averaging 15.6 points per game. In the Storm victory, Heideman facilitated the offense at point guard with nine assists and 18 points.

Despite the loss, Sky guards and bigs alike had strong showings. DiJonai Carrington scored a career-high 26 points in 27 minutes off the bench, Courtney Vandersloot had 13 points and three assists, and center Kamilla Cardoso notched her 12th double-double of the year with 15 points and 13 rebounds on 58.3% shooting.

At the heart of this matchup and a potential Sky win is strong frontcourt play. The Sky will need veteran guards Cloud and Vandersloot to run the offense at a high level and outplay Heideman with several guards out due to injury. When their playmaking is at its best, there are more scoring opportunities for the wings like Carrington and Rachel Banham, who have been contributing more off the bench.

Cardoso will be tasked with not only limiting Malonga’s scoring but creating offensive opportunities for herself. She will be needed on both sides of the ball for this matchup, and a 13th double-double could be exactly what the Sky need for a win.

Tip-off in this final road game is at 4 p.m. CST inside Climate Pledge Arena.
