The Sky fell to the Storm 97-88 in Climate Pledge Arena on Monday, Aug. 10. With their 12th single-digit loss this season, the Sky dropped to 12-21. 

Tonight's game was the epitome of the Sky's season, with Chicago finding itself in two double-digit deficits, but battling back into the game and getting as close as a one-score game in the second half.

DiJonai Carrington led the way for the Sky, scoring a career-high 26 points to go along with six rebounds, five steals and a career-high 10 made free throws. She became only the first player ever to record that stat line off the bench in league history. She was a persistent presence on the court, especially getting downhill. Carrington’s ability to shift the momentum in the Sky’s favor on multiple occasions kept the Sky in the game. 

Kamilla Cardoso recorded her 12th double-double in Monday's game with 15 points, 13 rebounds and a highly efficient 58.3% clip from the field. Azurá Stevens contributed nine points, eight rebounds, two assists and two blocks to round out the frontcourt. These bouts contributed to the Sky ultimately dominating in the paint, outscoring the Storm 48-38 in that regard.

The backcourt duo of Courtney Vandersloot and Natasha Cloud built an effective playmaking outing in the loss, with Vandersloot posting 13 points and three assists and Cloud adding seven points, two steals and nearly matching her season high in assists with eight. 

For the Storm, Dominique Malonga dominated from all ends of the floor, finishing with a 26-point, 10-rebound double-double; her 10th on the season. Malonga finished with a highly efficient 64.2% clip from the field, including a 75% mark from three and concluded with three blocks and two steals. Natisha Hiedeman added 18 points, nine assists and nailed all 12 of her free throw attempts. Zia Cooke posted 16 points, two rebounds and shot 58.3% from the field off the bench. 

The Sky continue their west coast road trip on Wednesday, Aug. 12 as they take on the Golden State Valkyries at Chase Arena. The game tips off at 9 p.m. CT and will be broadcast on USA Network.
