Chicago Sky vs Tulsa Shock Game Preview
On Saturday, June 6th the Chicago Sky will face the Tulsa Shock at the BOK Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The game is scheduled for 7 pm CT and you can catch all the action on WNBA Live Access. The Chicago Sky will look to build off their first regular season game, a dominant 95-72 win over the Indiana Fever. It was the largest opening night attendance in franchise history for the Sky with 8,123 fans coming out to support the team. Elena Delle Donne led all scorers with 31 points.
The last time the Sky faced the Tulsa Shock was on July 27, 2014 in a road matchup that featured strong performances from multiple players. The Sky outscored the Shock in the first two quarters of the game before Tulsa came back with a strong second half, resulting in a 79-69 victory over Chicago. Leading the way for the Shock was Glory Johnson, who scored 14 of her 15 points in the second half. Odyssey Sims poured in a game-high 24 points, while Skylar Diggins contributed 18 points, including a 10-11 performance at the free throw line. Allie Quigley and Epiphanny Prince led the Sky with 14 points apiece. Although Tulsa had success against Chicago in the regular season with a 2-0 record, the Shock finished the year with a 12-22 overall record and did not make the playoffs for the fourth straight season.
This year’s matchup will feature new look rosters, as both teams made major offseason acquisitions and some key players will be back in the lineup that weren’t available when these two teams faced off last year. In 2014, Chicago was without point guard Courtney Vandersloot and guard/forward Elena Delle Donne for the final contest against Tulsa. Fortunately for the Sky, Vandersloot and Delle Donne will both be available for Saturday’s game against the Shock. In addition, Chicago acquired six-time All-Star Cappie Pondexter and college standout Cheyenne Parker who provide extra scoring punch.
Saturday night’s game at the BOK Center should make for an exciting outcome considering all the changes that have taken place in the past year. Catch all the action on WNBA LiveAccess at 7pm CT and don’t forget to join us back at Allstate Arena on Wednesday, June 24 when the Sky hosts the Atlanta Dream.
