Sky at Sun Thursday

On Thursday, the Sky will play their second of five straight road contests as they travel to Uncasville, CT to take on the Connecticut Sun in Mohegan Sun Arena at 6:00 pm CT.

Chicago (1-1) began the 2015 WNBA season in victorious fashion, defeating the Indiana Fever 95-72 at home in Allstate Arena behind Elena Delle Donne’s 31 points and eight rebounds. The Sky traveled to Tulsa the next day to play the Shock at the BOK Center. Chicago could not claim a victory in Tulsa and fell to the Shock 93-101 despite Delle Donne’s career-high 40 points and nine rebounds.

Through two games, Elena Delle Donne is leading the WNBA in scoring at 35.5 points per game and in blocks with 3.5 per game. The two other Sky players currently averaging double-figures scoring are Cappie Pondexter (17.0 ppg) and Courtney Vandersloot (12.0 ppg).

The Connecticut Sun (1-1) lost their season opener 68-73 against to the Washington Mystics at home in Mohegan Sun Arena but then bounced back to defeat the Atlanta Dream 75-70 at Philips Arena in Atlanta, Georgia on June 7th. Sun guard Alex Bentley led Connecticut in scoring in both contests, scoring 17 points in each game. Four different Connecticut players scored in double-figures in the team’s most recent victory over the Dream.

The Sky is 16-16 vs. the Sun all-time but did win three out of the four contests between the two teams in the 2014 season to finish with a 3-1 record vs. the Sun. The most recent matchup between the two teams occurred on August 5, 2014 in Uncasville, CT in which Chicago defeated Connecticut 82-66. Epiphanny Prince led the Sky with 20 points and Allie Quigley added 17 in the win. Elena Delle Donne came off the bench to contribute 15 points in 20 minutes.

The Sky is looking for their first road victory of the 2015 season as they take on the Connecticut Sun in Mohegan Sun Arena at 6:00 pm EST. Chicago will play its next three contests away from Allstate Arena before returning home to take on the Atlanta Dream on Wednesday, June 24th at 11:30 am
