Sydney Taylor Named To 2026 WNBA All-Rookie Team
CHICAGO (Oct. 14, 2026) – Chicago Sky guard Sydney Taylor was named to the 2026 WNBA All-Rookie Team, the league announced today.
Taylor averaged 13.6 points and 2.0 assists in 37 games (26 starts this season), becoming the WNBA’s all-time leading undrafted rookie scorer. She finished the 2026 WNBA season as the league’s rookie leader in three-pointers made (71). Her 71 three-pointers are also the sixth-most in a single season by any Sky player ever. Taylor finished as the third-leading rookie scorer in the league, notching a total of 504 points. Her 13.6 points ranked third as well.
She initially signed a training camp deal with the Sky before making it to the regular-season roster as an undrafted rookie. Taylor made history early and often, beginning with her then-career high of 27 points on May 27 against Toronto, becoming the fastest rookie in franchise history to her first 25-point game.
On June 11 in an overtime bout in Gainbridge Fieldhouse against the Indiana Fever, Taylor broke out again. She secured her then-career high of 30 points, becoming the second player ever — not just rookie — to score 30 points in 21 minutes or fewer. She dispatched 10 of her 14 shots from the field and four of her seven three-pointers in that game.
That June 11 game saw Taylor score a furious 16 points in the third quarter alone as she became the fourth rookie ever and first since 2018 to have multiple 25-point games off the bench.
The very next game on June 17 saw Taylor join the starting lineup, where she immediately posted 24 points, three steals and two assists while shooting 10 of 16 from the floor. She paired with Gabriela Jaquez to become the Sky’s first rookies to each score 20 points in the same game. As a starter, Taylor averaged 15.4 points. In games where she played at least 20 minutes, Taylor averaged 17 points.
On June 26, Taylor recorded an onslaught of points, going for 29 in just 23 minutes. Her 72.7% mark from the field, 85.7% clip from beyond the arc and 100% finish from the free-throw line made her game the most efficient 25-point game by a rookie in WNBA history. She also became one of just six players ever to score 29 points in under 23 minutes.
On July 22, Taylor scored her career high of 31 on July 22 against New York, joining Olivia Miles as the only two rookies with multiple 30-point games this season. With this game, she also became the all-time leader in 30-point games by an undrafted rookie.
The history continued in two games on Aug. 1 and Aug. 21, two upset victories over the Las Vegas Aces and Golden State Valkyries, respectively. On Aug. 1, she became the Sky’s first-ever rookie to hit a go-ahead three-pointer in the final seconds of regulation and, with 29 points, became the Sky’s all-time rookie leader in 25-point games. On Aug. 21, Taylor became the first rookie to ever hit multiple go-ahead three-pointers in a single season with under five seconds in regulation. She is just the third player to ever do so in league history.
Taylor finished the 2026 season as the Sky’s all-time rookie three-pointers leader as well as finishing second all time among all rookie scorers in Sky history, one of just two to reach 500 points.
Taylor was previously named to the Associated Press’s All-Rookie Team announced in September. She is the 13th player in Chicago Sky history to be named to a WNBA All-Rookie team. She was previously the seventh in franchise history to be named to an AP All-Rookie Team.
