Sky vs Shock Preview 9/11
The Chicago Sky will host the Tulsa Shock on Friday, September 11 at 7:30pm CT for Fan Appreciation Night presented by Wrigley’s Juicy Fruit! Upon entering the building for tonight’s contest the first 5,000 fans will receive an official 2015 Chicago Sky team poster.
The Sky has clinched its third consecutive playoff berth and home court advantage throughout the Eastern Conference Semifinals. Tulsa and Chicago have only met once this season prior to Friday night. Despite a 40-point performance from Elena Delle Donne in their first meeting on June 6th, Chicago was unable to knock off Tulsa on the road. The Shock was led by 23 points from Odyssey Sims and 20 points from Sylar Diggins.
Both team’s rosters have changed significantly since their first meeting. Tulsa is without Skylar Diggins who is out for the remainder of the season after suffering an ACL tear on June 28. The Sky’s most notable roster change since the two team’s first met is the addition of veteran center Erika de Souza who has provided rim protection in the second half of the season.
Join us on Friday night to see the WNBA ‘s leading scorer, Elena Delle Donne, who is averaging 23.3 points per game. Delle Donne is two three-pointers away from a career milestone with 100 career WNBA three-pointers.
Additionally, Chicago point guard Courtney Vandersloot leads the league with 5.8 assists per game. Vandersloot is having a record-breaking season with 186 assists thus far, the most ever by a Sky player in a single season. To beat Tulsa, Chicago’s bench will need to continue to contribute at a high level. In the Sky’s last game, the bench contributed 57 points led by 17 from Allie Quigley and 14 points, six steals and six assists from Jamierra Faulkner.
Friday night’s game is all about the fans. As a sign of our appreciation for your endless support will be giving away raffle items throughout the game. Featured items include an Apple Watch, an Orbitz Travel vacation getaway, a tv donated by Aaron’s Electronics and a jersey autographed by the entire team. Additional “mystery” prizes will be unveiled throughout the night and delivered to sections of the arena.
Fans are encouraged to stop by the Sky Cares Corner during the game to take advantage of a garage sale of discounted team merchandise. After the game, stick around for snacks, drinks and post-game free throws and also hear from the Sky players who will address the fans for the final time before the 2015 WNBA Playoffs begin.
