The Chicago Sky claimed another victory in Wintrust Arena on Wednesday, Aug. 5 against the Sparks, 95-88. The Sky have leveled their record against the Western Conference 10-10 and at home 8-8 while moving to 12-19 on the season. The Sky are also 3-1 in their four straight games at Wintrust, all since the All-Star break.

Chicago saw five players scoring in double digits, producing a collective effort that powered the team to the victory. In doing so, the Sky tipped the season series against the Sparks in their favor 2-1.

Guard Natasha Cloud ignited the internal fire for the team, posting 15 points, nine assists, five rebounds, two steals and a block. Since assuming a starting position on July 7, the multifaceted veteran is averaging 11.7 points and 6.1 assists per game.

Asserting dominance in the paint was center Kamilla Cardoso with 15 points, seven rebounds and two blocks. Veteran Jacy Sheldon dropped a season-high 15 points and three three-pointers while shooting 50% from the field, 60% from deep and 100% from the line.

In her fourth consecutive start, rookie Aicha Coulibaly produced a highly efficient 13 points on an 80% look from the floor and a perfect five-for-five clip from the charity stripe. She reached 100 career points in the game. Veteran Elizabeth Williams showcased her precision, knocking down seven of her 11 field goal attempts to produce a season-high 14 points.

Guard Courtney Vandersloot showcased her seasoned skills, scoring nine points, dishing out five assists, pulling down four rebounds and slamming two blocks. Alongside Vandersloot’s expertise was Rachel Banham’s impactful eight points, three assists, three rebounds, a steal and a block produced in just 13 minutes of play.

The Sparks were led by three-time All-Star Dearica Hamby’s 22-point, 14-rebound performance. Erica Wheeler fueled Los Angeles’s offense with 14 points and five assists while shooting 66.7% from the field and beyond the arc. Joining the leading scorers was guard Rae Burrell with 13 points and five assists and center Cameron Brink who posted 11 points, six rebounds and three blocks. Rounding out the stat sheet for the Sparks was 11-time All-Star Nneka Ogwumike who recorded 10 points, seven rebounds, three assists and three steals.

Chicago wraps up their five-game home stretch with a contest against the Indiana Fever in the United Center on Saturday, Aug. 8. Tip off is set for 2:30 p.m. CT and will be broadcast on ABC.
