Kamilla Cardoso was named the WCBA’s Player of the Week for round 14 after a strong week. Cardoso has led all players in scoring in four straight games, including a WCBA career-high 32 points on Dec. 16 against Jiangsu.
In those four games, Cardoso averaged 24.8 points, 14.3 rebounds and 3.8 assists while shooting 51.4% from the field.
Cardoso opened this stretch with a game-high 26 points to go along with 11 rebounds on Dec. 13 against Shandong. After her career game on Dec. 16, Cardoso notched WCBA career highs of rebounds and eight assists along with a game-high 24 points on Dec. 18 against Zhejiang. She led all players in points with 17 and rebounds with 13 in a Dec. 21 win against Xinjiang.
This season, Cardoso is averaging 20.2 points, 9.9 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 1.1 steals across 14 games. She has helped lead Shanghai to a 10-4 record, which ranks second in the Group A2 standings in the WCBA. She next plays against Guangdong on Dec. 24.
Chennedy Carter continues to lead Wuhan on their winning streak which extended to six over the past two weeks. She scored a game-high 27 points along with eight rebounds and four assists in a Dec. 11 game against Xiamen. In the following game, a Dec. 13 rematch versus Xiamen, Carter scored game highs of 36 points and four steals.
She nearly secured a triple-double on Dec. 16 against Ganzhou, notching 20 points, nine rebounds, eight assists and five steals. Carter is now averaging 30.3 points, 8.2 rebounds, 5.8 assists and 2.5 steals while shooting 49.3% from the field. She hasn’t scored fewer than 20 points this season.
Wuhan is 11-3 and second in the WCBA Group B standings. They’re 1.0 games out of first place. Carter and Wuhan next play a pair of games against Henan on Dec. 26 and 28.
Dana Evans and Beșiktaș went 3-1 over the past two weeks, including two wins over Gorzów Wielkopolski in the EuroCup playoffs.
In the first playoff matchup on Dec. 11, Evans scored 15 points, four rebounds, five assists and a game high of five steals. In the second win on Dec. 19, she notched 18 points and five assists. With thei pair of wins, Evans and Beșiktaș advanced to the next round of the EuroCup playoffs, which are set to take place against Angers on Jan. 9 and 11.
Evans also scored 21 points in a Dec. 15 game against Fenerbahce before helping Beşiktaș to a win against Kayseri on Dec. 22 with nine points.
Beșiktaș is now 6-0 in EuroCup play and is first in the Group K standings. Beșiktaș is also 6-5 in the KBSL standings. The schedule continues on Dec. 25 against Bodrum.
Brianna Turner helped Adelaide go undefeated over the past two weeks, winning three games against Canberra, Southside and Sydney. In the Dec. 15 win over Canberra, she recorded 15 points, nine rebounds, three blocks and three steals. She scored a team-leading 18 points, 12 rebounds, five blocks and three steals on Dec. 20 versus Southside. Turner scored another double-double in a Dec. 22 win against Sydney with 15 points and 14 rebounds along with four blocks and three steals.
Turner is now averaging 10.5 points, 12.0 rebounds, 3.3 blocks and 3.0 steals in 11 games. With their three straight wins, Adelaide improved to 5-6 in the WNBL standings and are in fourth place. Turner’s next game is on Dec. 27 against Bendigo.
Lindsay Allen and Botaș went 1-1 over the past two weeks, falling to Tarsus, 81-83, on Dec. 15 before beating Ormanspor 79-67 on Dec. 21. In the game against Tarsus, she recorded a game-high nine assists to go along with 14 points, three rebounds, two steals and a block. Against Ormanspor, Allen led all scorers with 25 points along with five rebounds and six assists.
She’s averaging 17.3 points, 3.2 rebounds and 6.2 assists in 10 games this season while shooting 48.5% from the field and 35.5% from three. Botaș is now eighth in the KBSL standings. Allen and Botaș next play on Dec. 25 against Fenerbahce.
Isabelle Harrison completed her overseas play and returned stateside ahead of the start of Athletes Unlimited in February. Elizabeth Williams also signed with Athletes Unlimited on Dec. 19 for the 2025 season in Nashville, Tennessee. Play will run from Feb. 5 to March 2. More info on Athletes Unlimited can be found here.
