Meet the 2019 Chicago Sky T-Shirt Design Winner
Isabel Moscato has been crowned the winner of the 2019 Chicago Sky T-Shirt Contest.
Moscato, an avid fan who currently plays for her high school girls basketball team in Montreal, Canada, says the contest was her first opportunity to combine both of her biggest passions – basketball and design.
The high school athlete says she began designing five years ago after learning how to use Adobe Photoshop in a multimedia class. She used the same platform to create the two t-shirt designs that were voted into the contest’s championship round by Sky fans across social media.
Without a professional women’s basketball team in her hometown of Montreal, Moscato says it was Sky forward Gabby Williams that made her a diehard Chicago fan. Williams was selected by the Sky with the No. 4 overall pick in the 2018 WNBA Draft.
“Gabby Williams is my favorite player,” Moscato said. “I [first] noticed her while watching highlight videos of NCAA basketball games. I love her offensive basketball smarts.”
Moscato says the first time she picked up a basketball was in grade school after one of her teachers told the students that she had been playing for a local university team.
Now, Moscato will soon be able to say the same.
“I found out last week that I have been recruited for a local college team,” she said.
As for her favorite part of the game? Moscato says it is the “teamwork and the adrenaline rush of close games,” that connected her so deeply with the sport.
Moscato, 16, will be joined by her father when the two fly from Montreal to Chicago to sit courtside for the Sky’s home opener at Wintrust Arena on Saturday, July 1. Tip-off is slated for 7 p.m.
All fans in attendance on opening night will also be able to receive a t-shirt showcasing Izzy’s winning design. Tickets are available now by calling (866) SKY-WNBA or by visiting sky.wnba.com/tickets.
