Sky Bring Back Lexie Brown for Remainder of 2021 WNBA Season

CHICAGO (June 14, 2021) – The Chicago Sky re-signed WNBA veteran Lexie Brown for the remainder of the 2021 season, the team announced today.

Brown has had multiple stints with the Sky throughout the course of the 2021 WNBA calendar, most recently having played for Chicago in its fifth home game of the year against the Phoenix Mercury on June 1. The former Duke Blue Devil played 20 minutes despite joining the team on the same day, recording four assists as well as scoring two points.

The Boston native rejoins the Sky as a veteran addition to the roster with three years of WNBA experience. Brown spent one season with the Connecticut Sun, who drafted the guard ninth overall in the 2018 WNBA Draft, and the 2019-20 seasons with the Sky’s next opponent in the Minnesota Lynx. She started in 13 of 17 appearances for Minnesota while in the WNBA Bubble last season in Bradenton, Fla.

In addition to her experience at the professional level, Brown has previous on-court playing time with Sky guard Diamond DeShields and forward Azurá Stevens. DeShields and Brown played AAU basketball together in the Atlanta area as well as against each other for their high school teams. Brown played for North Gwinnett while DeShields shined at nearby Norcross. Prior to Stevens’ transfer from Duke to Connecticut, she and Brown played together in Durham, N.C. during the 2015-16 season.

The Sky travels to Minneapolis to play the Minnesota Lynx tomorrow at 8:00p CT. Chicago is looking to push its winning streak to three games on ESPN2.
