The Sky fell to the Mercury 106-101 in a high-scoring battle in Wintrust Arena on Wednesday, Aug. 3.

Despite the results, the Sky generated a highly effective offensive unit and a full-fledged effort from all sides of the floor. Kamilla Cardoso recorded her 10th double-double of the season with 16 points and 13 rebounds to go with five assists and two blocks.
Vandersloot also finished in double-double territory, her first on the season. She rounded out with 16 points and 10 assists - both season highs - with five rebounds. Chicago’s all-time leader in points and assists is up to 63 career games with at least 10 points and 10 assists, 20 more than anyone else in WNBA history.
Sydney Taylor generated a highly effective 14 minutes of play, posting 14 points, three assists and a 50% clip from the floor. The Mercury saw five players score in double digits for tonight’s game. Five-time All-Star Kahleah Copper notched her fourth game with 30 or more points after nailing 31 points while shooting 52.6% from the field and 50% from deep. In her first game for the Mercury, Kelsey Plum notched 20 points and four assists. Alyssa Thomas recorded a triple-double with 19 points, 15 rebounds and 12 assists. Rounding out the stat sheet for Phoenix, Valeriane Ayayi finished the night with 11 points while DeWanna Bonner added 14 points, eight rebounds, four assists, three steals and two blocks.
