The Sky head to the second stop of their four-game road trip on Tuesday, July 7, against the Phoenix Mercury as they look to snap a two-game skid. Chicago trails the all-time series against Phoenix 18-33.

The Sky fell 91-83 to the Mercury in the team’s third game of the season at Mortgage Matchup Center on Friday, May 15. Forward Rickea Jackson led the Sky in scoring with 29 points, while tallying six rebounds and three blocks. Rookie Gabriela Jaquez showed out, recording 13 points, three rebounds and a steal, while guard Jacy Sheldon notched eight points and three assists in that outing.

Phoenix saw four players in double figures in the last game between the Sky and Mercury. Rookie Jovana Nogić led Phoenix, recording 27 points while adding four rebounds. Six-time All Star Alyssa Thomas scored 17 points, 11 rebounds and six assists in that Mercury win while former Sky guard-forward Kahleah Copper totaled 17 points, five rebounds and three steals.

Four-time All Star and 2021 WNBA Finals MVP Copper leads the Mercury in scoring, averaging 20.6 points, 3.8 rebounds and 1.8 assists per game. Thomas is the second-leading scorer for Phoenix (14.4) and leads the team in assists (8.4) per game. She currently leads the entire league in total assists (160) and assists per game. Second-year Monique Akoa Makani is averaging 9.6 points to go along with 2.8 assists per game.

Phoenix has scored 90 or more points in each of their last three wins, so it is imperative that the Sky find ways to be explosive and consistent with the ball in their hands.

The game between Chicago and Phoenix tips off at 9 p.m. CT in Mortgage Matchup Center and will be broadcast locally on The U.
