The 3-2 Chicago Sky remain at home for the second of four straight at Wintrust Arena to take on the Minnesota Lynx on Saturday, who they just defeated on Sunday. The game against Minnesota on Saturday is the second of three games this season against the Lynx, all of which come this month.
That means winning Saturday's game gives the Sky the season series over Minnesota, which already carries massive playoff implications this early in the season. The Lynx sit at 3-2, and with an intense and competitive league, the Sky will need to take care of business against teams sitting in the same echelon of the standings as them.
Kamilla Cardoso got it going in the last game against Minnesota, posting 11 points, 12 rebounds and four assists. After missing her first three shots against the Lynx, Cardoso turned on the engines, and made a whopping 12 straight field goals between that game and Wednesday's against Dallas.
She'll look to continue the hot streak after recording a season-high 24 points along with 11 rebounds and five assists against Dallas.
Chicago Sky Rookie of the Year contender Gabriela Jaquez recorded a career game in her last outing against Minnesota, going for 20 points and eight rebounds. She's exceeded all expectations thus far this season.
Like the Sky, the Lynx have only played one game since the two teams last squared off. They blew out the expansion Toronto Tempo, who the Sky face next, 100-72, on Thursday. Minnesota saw five players score at least 13 points, and every player who appeared in the game for them scored points.
Maya Caldwell erupted off the bench, scoring 16 points in just 22 minutes. She hit a big shot against the Sky, and is one player to watch. Rookie standout Olivia Miles had 14 points and five assists in that game.
The two teams square off at 12 p.m. on Saturday, May 23 inside Wintrust Arena. The game is available for fans on CBS.
