The Sky head to T-Mobile Arena on Friday, July 3 for their second meeting of the season with the reigning WNBA champion Las Vegas Aces. Chicago is 21-30 all time against Vegas and 0-1 so far this season.

The Sky most recently hosted the Aces on Sunday at the United Center. After a hard-fought 40 minutes, Chicago fell 107-99.

Four-time MVP A’ja Wilson exhibited her elite talent and veteran prowess in that game, recording a double-double (31 points, 15 rebounds) with four steals, and three blocks. It was her 99th career game with at least 20 points and 10 rebounds. Four-time All Star Jackie Young followed not far behind, with 28 points, eight assists and shot 66.7% (4 for 6) from three. As a whole, the Aces shot 52.4% (33 for 63) from the field and 40% (10 for 25) from deep.

The teams were tied at 31 by the conclusion of the first quarter in the June 28 outing. Once the Aces outscored the Sky 30-19 in the second quarter to take a 61-50 halftime lead, Chicago was at the fighting end of the score until the conclusion of the contest.

For the Sky, All Star hopeful Kamilla Cardoso and 2021 WNBA champion Azurá Stevens both went for 24 points. Cardoso went 66.7% from the field (10 for 15) and registered eight rebounds and two steals. Chicago gave Vegas a run for their money in the paint, outscoring them 54-38.

After Wilson went down with a leg injury, she has been spared playing minutes, leading to her questionable status for Friday's matchup. Wilson sat out the Commissioner’s Cup Championship game against New York on Tuesday.

In the Commissioner’s Cup loss, Young held down the fort in Wilson’s absence. In her 36 minutes, she tallied 31 points and seven assists, boasting a 57.1% (12 for 21) field goal percentage.

Friday’s matchup between the Sky and Aces will kick off at 9 pm and will be broadcast on ION.
