Kahleah Copper Named WNBA Eastern Conference Player of the Week
CHICAGO (June 21, 2022) — Chicago Sky’s Kahleah Copper was named WNBA Eastern Conference Player of the Week, the league announced today. This marks the first time in Copper’s seven-year career to receive the honor.
Copper is the first Sky player to receive the award this season. The last time a Sky player received the honor was Courtney Vandersloot in 2021 during the week of 6/21/21.
Copper and the Sky recorded a 1-1 record last week, picking up a victory at home against the Atlanta Dream, 106-100, followed by a loss on the road to the Indiana Fever, 89-87. Against the Dream, she tallied a season-high 23 points, along with 10 rebounds and three assists. Two days later against the Fever, she tallied a career-high 28 points and four three-pointers made on 61.5% field goal percentage.
This past week, Copper averaged 25.5 ppg, 7.0 rpg and 2.4 apg. She is currently averaging a career-high 15.0 ppg and 5.7 rpg in 29.9 minutes. The 2021 WNBA Finals MVP also leads the league in fast break points this season at 4.1 per game.
Chicago continues its three-game road trip against the Las Vegas Aces today, June 21, 2022 at 9:00 p.m. CT before a matchup with the Los Angeles Sparks on Thursday, June 23, 2022 at 9:30 p.m. CT.
