Courtney Vandersloot Named WNBA Eastern Conference Player of the Week

Chicago Sky’s Courtney Vandersloot was named WNBA Eastern Conference Player of the Week, the league announced today. This marks the second time this season and eighth time in Vandersloot’s 12-year career to receive the honor.

Vandersloot earned her second WNBA Player of the Week award this 2022 season after averaging 19.5 ppg, 7.0 rpg and 10.5 apg this past week. Vandersloot is the second Sky player this season to receive the honor, coming after Kahleah Copper, who was honored the week of 6/21/22. This honor comes shortly after Vandersloot’s return to the Sky after missing four games due to concussion protocols.

The Sky finished the week with two-straight wins, one at home and one on the road. Against the New York Liberty, Vandersloot finished with 23 points, six rebounds and nine assists. Her 12 points in the fourth quarter alone lifted the Sky to a 89-81 victory. On the road, Vandersloot tallied a double-double with 16 points and 12 rebounds in the Sky’s 95-92 overtime win against the Connecticut Sun. Vandersloot reached a major career milestone in Connecticut, passing Lindsay Whalen to become third on the All-Time Assists list.

Vandersloot currently holds the second-place spot in league assists this season at 6.5 per game, behind Washington Mystics’ Natasha Cloud at 7.3 apg.

Chicago travels back home to Wintrust Arena this week to take on the Dallas Wings on Tuesday, August 2nd, at 8 p.m. CT and then the Washington Mystics on Friday, August 5th at 7 p.m. CT.
