Chicago Sky Sign Veteran Center Kayla Alexander

CHICAGO – Chicago Sky General Manager and Head Coach James Wade announced today that the team has signed veteran center Kayla Alexander to a seven-day contract.

“We are happy to have Kayla with us to provide some depth at the post,” Wade said. “I was fortunate enough to coach Kayla for four years in San Antonio, so I know how hard of a worker and how good of a teammate she is and will be with us. Kayla is the ultimate pro.”

Originally selected by the San Antonio Stars (now the Las Vegas Aces) with the No.8 overall pick of the 2013 WNBA Draft, the 6-foot-4 Syracuse graduate spent six seasons (2013-17) with the Stars before the team relocated to Las Vegas. In February 2018, Alexander was picked up by the Indiana Fever in a trade deal with the Las Vegas Aces. She appeared in 30 games with Indiana in the 2018 season, averaging 2.7 points and 2.2 rebounds per game.

A native of Ontario, Canada, Alexander has played professionally in Russia, France, and most recently for Australia’s Adelaide, where she averaged 11.9 points, 8.9 rebounds and 22.9 minutes per game.

Alexander will join the Sky’s lineup for the first time on Friday, Aug. 23 when the team takes on the top-seeded Washington Mystics at Wintrust Arena at 7 p.m. CT.
