Chicago Sky sign Kysre Gondrezick

CHICAGO (Feb. 9, 2022) – The Chicago Sky have signed guard Kysre Gondrezick, General Manager and Head Coach James Wade announced today.

“Kysre is still a developing young player in this league, so we want to give her the chance to show how much she’s developed between year one and year two,” Wade said.

Gondrezick, 24, appeared in 19 games with the Fever last season, averaging 1.9 points and 1 rebound across 9.1 minutes per game, before her rookie season was cut short. The 5-9 guard’s last game played with Indiana was July 11, 2021 before taking a personal leave to grieve the death of her father. She was waived by the Fever on Jan. 11, 2022.

Drafted out of West Virginia University with the No. 4 overall pick in the 2021 WNBA Draft, Gondrezick is the highest-drafted WNBA player in West Virginia women’s basketball program history. She graduated from WMU as all-time career leader, ranking second in all-time minutes played per game (34.86) and fourth in all-time in scoring average (17.14).

A native of Benton Harbor, Michigan, Gondrezick was named 2016’s Michigan Miss Basketball for her performance at Benton Harbor High School, where as a senior she averaged 40.5 points per game, the highest being 72 points in a playoff game.
