Chicago Sky Re-Sign Two-Time WNBA All-Star Center Stefanie Dolson

CHICAGO – Chicago Sky General Manager and Head Coach James Wade announced today the franchise has re-signed two-time WNBA All-Star center Stefanie Dolson to a multi-year contract.

“Stefanie is a big part of our identity on both ends of the floor, and off the floor as well,” said the 2019 WNBA Coach of the Year. “She has proven to be a crucial piece in our turnaround, and I couldn’t imagine going into 2020 without her.”

Dolson started in all 34 games for Chicago last season, averaging 9.3 points, 5.6 rebounds, 2.2 assists and one steal in 25 minutes per game. She currently ranks fourth in the WNBA in field goal percentage, finishing the season with 51.8 percent.

“It means a lot,” Dolson said of her return. “I’ve come to love the city of Chicago. The fans here are amazing, and I’ve never been closer to a team in my career. I want to help bring a championship to this city, so I’m honored that they have signed me back to do that.”

The upcoming WNBA season marks Dolson’s seventh in the league and fourth with the Sky. A two-time NCAA champion with the UConn Huskies, Dolson was originally drafted by the Washington Mystics with the No. 6 overall pick of the 2014 WNBA Draft. She spent three years with Washington before being acquired by the Sky in a trade ahead of the 2017 WNBA season.

Last season, Chicago advanced to WNBA Playoffs for the first time since 2016. In the first year under Wade’s leadership, the Sky improved by seven games, recording 20 wins in 2019 from 13 the previous year. It was only the third time in franchise history that the team finished with 20 or more victories.

Chicago finished the 2019 regular season having shattered multiple franchise records, including most three-point field goals made (247), most three-point field goal attempts (735), most defensive rebounds (958), and most assists (733) in a single season.

The Sky tips off the 2020 WNBA regular season on Friday, May 15 at Wintrust Arena. The complete schedule is available at sky.wnba.com/schedule, and tickets for all games are available now.
