Chicago Sky Re-Sign Guard Jamierra Faulkner

Chicago Sky –  General Manager and Head Coach James Wade announced today that the team has re-signed guard Jamierra Faulkner.

“I can count on one hand the number of third-round draft picks that have carved out such a valuable role for themselves in the league the way that Jamierra has, and that’s because she is the epitome of hard work and mental toughness,” Wade said. “She is a fearless competitor who has a proven commitment to constantly pushing herself to be the best player she can be. I really look forward to having her back this season.”

Faulkner played in 17 games with Chicago last season, averaging 7.6 points, 3.9 assists, 1.6 rebounds and 21.2 minutes per game, before suffering a season-ending ACL injury to her right knee late in the fourth quarter of the Sky’s game against the Dallas Wings on July 3.

Prior to her injury, Faulkner scored in the double-digits in five of her appearances for the team, including a career-high 19 points during Chicago’s June 17 matchup against Los Angeles.

Originally selected by the Sky with the 34th overall pick of the 2014 WNBA Draft, Faulkner was sidelined for the entire 2017 season after undergoing surgery to repair a torn ACL in her left knee, an injury sustained while playing overseas in Poland during the WNBA offseason.

“I’m extremely excited about joining the team again this season,” Faulkner said. “I want to thank everyone for all of the support and prayers I’ve received through my injuries. I can’t wait to see my squad again.”

Chicago’s training camp opens on May 5. Tickets for the team’s home opener at Wintrust Arena on June 1 are on sale now, and can be purchased by calling 866-SKY-WNBA or by visiting sky.wnba.com/tickets.
