Kelly Schumacher-Raimon Joins Chicago Sky As Team Development Coach & Advanced Scout

The Chicago Sky announced that Kelly Schumacher-Raimon will join the organization as Team Development Coach & Advanced Scout. Kelly is a two-time WNBA Champion with the Phoenix Mercury and the Detroit Shock, an NCAA champion with the University of Connecticut Huskies, and a Spanish League Champion with Perfumerias Avenida. Known for her extremely high basketball IQ, Kelly currently assists the Ohio State University women’s basketball coaching staff working as a volunteer focused on analyzing team/opponent film.

After a storied college career with the University of Connecticut Huskies, including defeating Tennessee for the NCAA Championship in 2000, Kelly was selected by the Indiana Fever in the first round of the 2001 WNBA Draft. Her 8-year WNBA Career included stops in New York, Phoenix and Detroit. As a rookie Kelly was also the recipient of the WNBA Community Assist Award for her contributions to the community. Kelly played professional basketball overseas in Asia & Europe for nine seasons. Highlights of her international career include winning the Spanish League Championship, and the Spanish League Queen’s Cup Championship and being named MVP of the Spanish league Finals in 2006.

Kelly officially retired from professional basketball after the 2013 EuroLeague season, but she did not retire from professional sports. Always an avid volleyball player, Kelly entered the professional beach volleyball tour and quickly earned a spot on the USA Beach National Team.

The Chicago Sky will begin training camp under the leadership of Head Coach & General Manager Amber Stocks on April 23, 2017.
