Chicago Sky Signs Kahleah Copper to Contract Extension

The Chicago Sky today announced guard/forward Kahleah Copper has signed a multi-year contract extension with the team. Per team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Copper has played 224 games and counting, fourth most in franchise history, over her seven-year career in a Sky uniform. She is top five in a plethora of Sky records, including fourth in scoring (2,676 points), fourth in games played (224), third in field goal attempts (2,189), third in 20+ point games in a single season with 17 games in 2023, tied for third in 25+ point games in a single season with seven games in 2023, fourth in free throws made (495), fifth in minutes played (5,260), fourth in three-point field goals made (201) and fifth in total rebounds (799).

She currently leads the Sky this season in points per game (18.7 ppg) and has scored in double figures in 35 out of 38 games in 2023. In 2022, the Sky was 23-8 in games with Copper in the lineup and set career highs in points, rebounds, assists, field goals, three-pointers and free throws. This season, she increased her numbers once again, scoring a career high 18.7 points per game and 6.9 field goals made.

The North Philadelphia native is a 2021 WNBA Champion, 2021 WNBA Finals MVP, a three-time WNBA All-Star (2021, 2022, 2023), 2022 Eastern Conference Player of the Week (June) and a 2022 FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup Gold Medal Winner with Team USA.

Copper was drafted No. 7 overall in the 2016 WNBA Draft by the Washington Mystics and was traded to Chicago in 2017.
