Prudential Center the Stage for Round 3 of Sky vs. Liberty

For the third time this season the Sky and the New York Liberty meet up in a clash of Eastern Conference playoff hopefuls. Sylvia Fowles and company look to gain an edge in the race as the teams look to the postseason.

In the previous meeting between the two rivals on July 10, the Liberty took advantage of 21 Chicago turnovers to beat the Sky 80-73. 18 points apiece from Cappie Pondexter and Essence Carson spelled doom for the Sky at the Prudential Center in Newark, N.J.

The first time around was a different story as Fowles dominated the paint on her way to a 27-point, 11-rebound performance to pace the Sky to an 85-73 win at Allstate Arena. Epiphanny Prince scored 17 points and dished out eight assists, and Michelle Snow chipped in 13 points for the Sky. Pondexter racked up 20 points, but shot only 4-16 from the field thanks to solid defense from Prince.

Chicago and New York are two of the four teams in a tight battle for the final three playoff spots in the Eastern Conference and this will be the third of five meetings this season between the two teams. With three of the five to be played in New York, its critical for the Sky to pick up a win on the road and take the series lead.

Tipoff is scheduled for 11 a.m. CDT. Tune in to WNBA LiveAccess on www.chicagosky.net to catch all the action.
