The Chicago Sky (6-9) started its two-game homestand against the Indiana Fever (7-9) on Wednesday, June 29. The Fever defeated the Sky 95-83, despite a 21-point performance by Elena Delle Donne. Fever forward, Tamika Catchings, led all-scorers with 26 points in her final game in Chicago.
The Sky returns to Allstate Arena on Friday, July 1 to host the Washington Mystics (9-8) for the final time this season. Chicago leads the season series 2-0.
The teams first met at the Verizon Center on June 1. The Sky defeated the hosting Mystics 86-78. Delle Donne proved to be too much for the Mystics to handle. She scored 18 points, grabbed nine rebounds and hit seven of eight free throws. Courtney Vandersloot added 10 points and eight assists, while Pondexter scored 16 points and shot 50 percent from the field. Mystics center Stefanie Dolson led Washington with 14 points, and guards Tayler Hill and Ivory Latta scored 11 points a piece.
After a quick turn around, the Mystics hosted the Sky two nights later on June 3 at Allstate Arena. Once again Chicago conquered Washington, winning a much closer match up of 98-72. Delle Donne led all scorers with 18 points and shot 54 percent from the field. Cappie Pondexter and Allie Quigley each added 16 points, while Tamera Young, Jessica Breland and Clarissa Dos Santos all had 10 points. Emma Meesseman led Washington with 12 points and five rebounds.
Chicago owned the offensive side of the court, shooting 55 percent from the field. They also got to the line a total of 17 times, shooting 82 percent from the line.
