Sky vs. Dream Preview 5/21

Sky vs. Dream Preview – Round Two

The Chicago Sky (0-2) will close out a back-to-back with the Atlanta Dream (2-0) on Sunday when the two teams square off at McCammish Pavilion. The two teams met on Friday night, and despite a 22-point performance from veteran guard Cappie Pondexter, the Sky fell to the Dream 91-83. Pondexter also dished out a season high seven assists and shot an efficient 52% from the field.

It’s a long season and it’s all about improving each step along the way. The Sky did just that on Friday night. In the season opener last Sunday in Minnesota, Chicago turned the ball over 25 times and on Friday night they cut that number nearly in half as they committed only 12.

Another area where Chicago improved was from three-point range. They drained six three-pointers against Atlanta on Friday, which is a huge step up from the one they made against Minnesota last Sunday.

Aside from Pondexter, Chicago also enjoyed a productive night from Tamera Young, who is off to a fast start this season. She poured in 18 points in Friday night’s contest, and also played a game high 37 minutes. It is also very apparent that Young has added a three-point element to her game. She’s attempted six three-pointers this season (2-6 3PT), which is more than the last five seasons combined. Through the first two games Young is leading the team in points per game and minutes, averaging 16.0 PPG and 35 MPG.

Chicago will have to find an answer for Atlanta guard Tiffany Hayes this time around. She had a huge night on Friday, as she tallied a game high 23 points, while also hauling in six boards and dishing out five assists.

Tipoff is scheduled for 2:00pm CT and can be seen on NBATV and WNBA League Pass. Follow the live action on the Sky mobile app, available for download at the App Store or on Google Play! Also make sure to follow along on Twitter @WNBAChicagoSky!
