Sky Sign Linnae Harper for Remainder of Season

The Chicago Sky have signed guard Linnae Harper for the remainder of the season, it was announced today.

Harper has appeared in 16 games for the Sky this season. The 5-foot-8 rookie out of Ohio State recently posted a career-high 10 points, led the bench in scoring, and made it to the free-throw line five times in just 10 minutes of play during Chicago’s July 7 game against Minnesota.

“Nothing Linnae did today was a surprise to any of us,” Sky General Manager and Head Coach Amber Stocks said. “[Courtney Vandersloot] and [Jamierra Faulkner] are hard on Linnae everyday because they see how good and how talented she is. [Vandersloot] even just recently commented on how impressed she always is in practice by what Linnae is able to do with the basketball and what she’s able to do on defense. Today, Chicago got to see what our players see everyday in practice with Linnae.”

A Chicago native, Harper was originally signed by her hometown team when she was added to the Sky’s training camp roster in April. She was waived by the Sky on July 1, before being re-signed to three consecutive seven-day contracts on July 5, July 11, and July 18.

“She is such an incredible player, where she can come in and just impact the game,” Vandersloot said. “That’s huge for us. She’s an amazing teammate. She just stays ready.”
