Sky Overseas + Offseason Updates: Rundown No. 1

CHICAGO (October 23, 2023) — Eight Chicago Sky players are currently taking their talents overseas with their respective teams this off-season. Below are the listed players, their teams, league and country.

Dana Evans helped power Beskitas to a 4-1 record in October so far since joining the team, averaging 26.0 points, 6.0 rebounds and 5.4 assists, while shooting 41.4% (20.8 FGA) from the floor and 38.9% from three (7.2 3-FGA) since joining the team. She led the team in scoring in four games and scored a game and season-high 36 points along with 11 rebounds, seven assists and three steals in a Oct. 11 win over Slavia BB.

Beskitas suffered its first loss since Evans joined the team on Oct. 19, though Evans contributed 21 points in the 74-83 loss. Evans has played in all 40 minutes in four of her five games with the club. The club then bounced back with a victory over Omanspor, where Evans scored 19 points. Evans and Beskitas sit at 3-2 in Turkish League play and are scheduled to face Panathinaikos in a EuroCup game on Oct. 26.

Famila Schio is out to a 5-2 start, second place in Group A of EuroLeague’s standings and Robyn Parks is contributing to the team’s success thus far. She’s averaging 8.4 points and 3.9 rebounds through seven games. Parks’ best game so far came in an 86-78 win over Sassari in which she posted eight points, six rebounds, six assists and three steals. Parks next takes the court against Fenerbahce on Oct. 25.

Sika Koné and CB Avenida are off to a white-hot start, moving to a 6-1 record (4-0 Spanish League, 2-1 EuroLeague) and Koné averages 8.0 points and 6.3 rebounds in just 15.5 minutes per game. She paced Avenida to a dominant 93-51 victory over Ensino on Oct. 21, tallying 16 points, six rebounds and two steals, shooting 100% (7 of 7) from the floor. Sitting atop the Spanish League standings, CB Avenida next squares off against USK Praha on Oct. 25.

Marina Mabrey and Elizabeth Williams are suiting up for CBK Mersin, who haven’t lost just one game since the pair joined the team. In four games with Mersin, Williams is averaging 11.3 points, 8.5 rebounds, 4.3 assists, 1.3 blocks and 1.8 steals. Her most impressive performance came on Oct. 11 against Landes putting up 14 rebounds and eight assists, both of which were season highs.

Appearing in three games with Mersin, Mabrey is averaging 17.3 points, 5.3 rebounds and 3.3 assists. She neared a triple-double on Oct. 14 against Nasibe, putting up 15 points, seven rebounds and eight assists. Mersin next plays on Oct. 25 against Polkowice, who is 4-1 in EuroLeague play.

After finishing her rookie season with the Sky, Taylor Soule joined San Martino in Italy, helping the team to a 2-1 start. She’s averaging 10.3 points, 5.3 rebounds and 2.0 assists through three games. She scored season highs of 15 points, nine rebounds, four assists and three steals on Oct. 8 in a victory over Faenza.

Morgan Bertsch is playing for Spar CityLift Girona, who have accumulated a 2-1 record in Spanish League play and 2-0 record in EuroCup since she joined the team. She’s averaging 9.6 points and 3.6 rebounds. Her most impressive showing this season came in a blowout of T71 on Oct. 11, in which she posted season highs of 24 points (10 of 11 2-FGA) and eight rebounds.

Alanna Smith is furthering her impressive 2023 campaign with several strong outings in overseas play with Emlak Konut. She’s averaging 22.3 points, 10.7 rebounds, 2.5 assists, 1.8 blocks and 2.7 steals per game. Since joining the team, Smith has pushed Emlak to a 4-2 record after it started 1-2.

Smith has recorded a double-double in four of her six appearances with Emlak, including season highs of 31 points and 17 rebounds on Oct. 1, following that up with a 26-point, 13-rebound game on Oct. 8. She also recorded nine steals and six blocks in a two-game stretch from Oct. 16-19.
