For the second time in ten days, the Chicago Sky (3-10) will face Eastern Conference rivals, the Indiana Fever (6-7).
Hot-handed Chicago Sky guard Allie Quigley, is on a scoring tour. She has recorded double-digits in every game this season. The back-to-back WNBA Sixth Woman of the year, is coming off an 18 point game (12 in the first quarter), in the June 25th 97-63 loss vs. the Washington Mystics.
The Sky were out rebounded 40 to 29 vs. the Mystics, and only shot 38.2% from the field.
Quigley led all scorers with 18 points. Stefanie Dolson added 12 points and Courtney Vandersloot moved into the WNBA’s top 25 all-time assist leaders, and finished the game with 10 points.
The June 18 meeting vs. Fever was a closely contested affair, and the Sky entered halftime with a 43-39 lead. The Fever pulled away in the fourth quarter and collected a W, in the 91-79 game.
The turnovers were the difference maker in the game’s final outcome. The Sky turned the ball over 18 times and on the other side, the Fever only turn it over four times.
All five Sky starters scored double-digit points for the the first time this season against the Fever.
Jessica Breland notched her 1,000th career point in the 3rd quarter vs. the Fever, and collected her second double-double of season with 12 points and 11 rebounds.
Sky’s leading scorer Quigley, had a team high 18 points. Tamera Young also had a solid game vs. the Fever. She added 16 points, 5 assists, 5 rebounds.
Tiffany Mitchell led the Fever with 19 points off the bench vs. the Sky. The Fever’s post play came up huge as well, forward Candice Dupree added 18 points and collected 8 rebounds and center Erlana Larkins dropped 16 points.
The Fever are coming off a 84-73 loss vs. the defending champion Los Angeles Sparks.
Fever vs. Sky tips off at 11:30 am CDT Wednesday, June 28, at All-State Arena in Rosemont.
