Chicago Sky Head Coach and General Manager Pokey Chatman has named Jonah Herscu an Assistant Coach for the 2016 season. Herscu served on Chatman’s bench on an interim basis during the 2015 season while Assistant Coach Tree Rollins was away from the team due to medical issues.
“I am pleased to add Jonah Herscu to our staff for the upcoming season,” said Chatman. “Having served with us as video/scout coordinator, player development and bench coach the past few years, coupled with his experience working in the NBA and D-League, adds tremendous value to our staff.”
Before assuming the role of Interim Assistant Coach, Herscu was the Sky’s Head Video Coordinator for two years and a video assistant the year prior. While in Chicago, Herscu also served as a video intern with the Bulls from 2013-15. Most recently, he earned a Master’s Degree in Sports Science from the United State Sports Academy and was an Assistant Coach for the Fort Wayne Mad Ants (D-League) during the 2015-16 season.
“This is an amazing opportunity and I can’t wait to get started,” said Herscu. “Having been with the Sky for the previous three seasons, I know we are close to reaching our goal of bringing a WNBA Championship to Chicago and I look forward to putting in the work this summer.”
With the addition of Herscu, Chatman has completed her staff. Assistant Coach Christie Sides will return for her sixth season as the Sky opens training camp on Sunday, April 24.
