Chicago Sky and Sky Cares Foundation Host Annual Fitness Festival

TheChicago Sky and Sky Cares Foundation presented by Magellan with partnership support from Harmony Health Plan, Inc., will host their annual Fitness Festival on Sunday, October 1 from 12:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. CDT at the Windy City Fieldhouse in Chicago.

The Fitness Festival is a health and wellness event that promotes the importance of exercise to youth from ages 5 to 13. Healthy snacks will be provided courtesy of Sky partner: KIND Bars. Harmony Health Plan’s EmPowerHer partners Purple Asparagus will provide a live healthy food demonstration and Praize Productions will lead the Hip/Hop dance portion of the festival.

“The Fitness Festival has been a great success year-over-year, and we are excited to continue the tradition,” said Sky Vice President of Sponsorship Marketing and Community Relations James Burda. “We are deeply committed to creating programs that improve the quality of life for youth in Chicago with a special emphasis on promoting healthy lifestyles and increasing positive self-image through fun activities. We are fortunate to partner with Magellan and Harmony Health Plan, Inc. who both share the same vision for health and wellness.”

The event will have multiple activity stations and instructed classes in which participating youth will receive a “Bingo” card to be stamped at each station they visit. Activity stations include: basketball, tennis, dance and a soccer station directed by the Chicago Fire Soccer Club. Chicago Sky mascot, Sky Guy, will lead youth in a circuit-training course that will include: jumping jacks, sit-ups, pushups and more.
