Chicago Sky Open Training Camp in Preparation For 2018 Season

The Chicago Sky officially began preparations for the 2018 season when general manager and head coach Amber Stocks and her staff opened training camp on Sunday, April 29.

The 2018 training camp roster includes 18 players, 12 of whom were in attendance, including two-time WNBA All-Star center Stefanie Dolson, veteran guard Alex Montgomery, rookie Alaina Coates, and forward Gabby Williams, who was recently selected by the team with the No. 4 overall pick in the 2018 WNBA Draft.

Diamond DeShields, drafted third overall by the Sky, is one of six players who will join the team at a later date. DeShields, as well as Allie Quigley, Courtney Vandersloot, Jamierra Faulkner, Cheyenne Parker, and Astou Ndour are slated to report to camp after completing their professional basketball commitments overseas.

Training camp will run for the next three weeks, with three preseason games scheduled prior to starting the 2018 regular season on May 19. Preseason play for the Sky begins with a back-to-back set on Sunday, May 6, when the team hosts the Atlanta Dream at their new home, the Wintrust Arena. The team will then travel to the Bankers Life Fieldhouse on Monday, May 7, for a matchup against the Indiana Fever. In the final tune-up before the season opener, the Sky visits the defending-champion Minnesota Lynx on Saturday, May 12.

The Sky will play their first regular season game on the road on Saturday, May 19, returning to face the Indiana Fever. The following night, the Sky will celebrate their inaugural season at Wintrust Arena with an event-filled home opener on Sunday, May 20. Tip-off against the New York Liberty is set for 6 p.m.
