The Chicago Sky (8-8) were unable to stop their losing streak Wednesday afternoon at the Allstate Arena in front of 13,161.
The Sky lost their third consecutive game of the season to the San Antonio Silver Stars (12-5) 77-68. The win marked the Silver Stars eighth consecutive win of the season, a franchise high after starting the season at 3-5. For the Sky, their three-game losing streak is their longest of the season.
San Antonio received major contributions from Danielle Robinson 16 points and Sophia Young who also scored 16 points to lead the Silver Stars. San Antonio never trailed in the contest and lead by as much as 21 points over the Sky.
The Sky outrebounded the San Antonio 39-23 and shot over 43 percent from behind the arc. Although the Sky held a rebounding edge, the game was lost due to their 22 turnovers which led to 31 points for San Antonio.
The leading scorer for the Sky was Shay Murphy with 20 points and Tamera Young added 18 points while Sylvia Fowles saw her 83-game streak of scoring 10 or more points end with just six point. With the loss, the Sky fall to .500 on the season for the first time since they were 1-1 on May 25.
The Sky will face the Eastern Conference leading Connecticut Sun on Friday at 7:30 p.m. at the Allstate Arena. The game can be seen on Comcast CN100.
