Sky on a roll look for second win over first-place Fever at Allstate Arena

Its the final regular season home game at Allstate Arena and the Sky are eager for one more shot against the Eastern Conference leading Fever. Although Chicago lost twice on the road vs. Indiana earlier this summer, it was a different story the last time the teams met here in Chicago.

In early August, coming off a tough stretch of games, the Sky had reason to be concerned with the talented and versatile Fever coming to town. After shaking off a slow start, the Sky exploded in the third quarter, outscoring the Fever 25 to 13, including 12 points in a row, to put the game out of reach as they won handily 88-69. During that stretch Cathrine Kraayeveld hit clutch two three-pointers as the Fever packed the middle to try to slow Sylvia Fowles, who had a big night for the Sky with 21 points and 12 rebounds. Fowles presence allowed for many open looks all night long as the Sky finished 8-16 from beyond the arc. Meanwhile All-Star Tamika Catchings was limited to 8 points on 2-6 shooting.

Playing at home gives the Sky a lot of confidence going into Sunday nights game. All season Chicago has been terrific at Allstate Arena, boasting an 11-6 record and having knocked off five of the top seven teams in the WNBA on their home floor. Indiana is no road cupcake however, having posted an away winning record at 7-6.

Chicago will continue to rely heavily on Fowles. She has been dominant of late, having just been named the Eastern Conference Player of the Week for the third time this season after registering a league record eight consecutive double-doubles through Sunday nights game vs. New York. No player in the history of the WNBA has ever done that in one calendar year.

Indiana, however, has had some success slowing her down, allowing her only 17.0 points and 6.7 rebounds per contest in 2011, well below her averages. Look for the Skys shooters Kraayeveld, Epiphanny Prince and Erin Thorn to have big games if the Fever continues to focus on Fowles.

Every game feels like a playoff game at this point of the season, and this one against the Fever is no different.
