Sky look to keep good times rolling against Liberty

Game Notes

The Chicago Sky (2-1) have jumped out to a fast start to the 2011 campaign winning two of three games, including two straight heading into Fridays matchup with the New York Liberty (2-1).

Chicago will try to extend their winning streak to three games, equaling their longest winning streak since the team won four straight in late May to early June of the 2010 season. It will not be an easy task against a New York squad that swept the four-game season series last year against the Sky, but head coach Pokey Chatman boasts a new-look team that is winning on both ends of the court.

A key to victory for Chatman and the Sky will be to slow down the Libertys top two scorers Plenette Pierson and Cappie Pondexter who have averaged 18.0 and 15.3 points per game this season, respectively.

While Pierson is a standout post player, the Sky has dominated in the post this season. The inside presence of Chicagos front court has held two-straight premier post players to subpar games with a shutdown performance on Friday against the Suns Tina Charles (eight points, four rebounds) and locking down the Mystics Nicky Anosike on Saturday (seven points, five rebounds).

The Sky are fresh off the success of taking the Mystics down in Washington 84-77 on Saturday and holding off the Connecticut Sun 78-75 on Friday. The Liberty dropped their first game of the season on Saturday in an 86-80 loss to the Indiana Fever, the same team that handed the Sky a season-opening loss.

This game will be a dynamic show-down of two Eastern Conference foes that you should not miss!
