Sky battle first-place Fever at Allstate Arena

The Sky get their third crack at first-place Indiana on Sunday, but this time Chicago finally gets to square off with the Fever on its home court. Twice this season the Sky have traveled to Indiana to face the Fever only to come back to Chicago empty handed, but this time they expect to return the favor as the two teams square off at 6 p.m. at Allstate Arena on Sunday.

Chicago has compiled a 7-4 record at Allstate Arena this season having knocked off Seattle, New York and Connecticut (2X) on the home floor while Indiana is just 5-4 on the road, giving the advantage to the Sky.

The Sky opened their season on June 4 in Indianapolis, but thanks to strong performances from Katie Douglas and Tamika Catchings, 19 and 15 points, respectively, the Sky dropped their first game, 65-57. The second time around did not go much better for Chicago on July 31 when 21 points from Sylvia Fowles and 15 from Erin Thorn off the bench was not enough in a 77-63 Indiana triumph. This time it was Jessica Davenport who did the damage for the Fever, scoring 20 points off the bench.

In the two games, the Sky have compiled a combined field goal percentage of just 37.8 percent and turned the ball over 35 times. A cleaner, more efficient performance for the Sky gives hope to knocking off the Easts top team in front of Chicagos loyal fans.

Sundays game continues a tough, and crucial, stretch for the Sky in which they must face much of the WNBAs best teams and maintain their playoff position in the Eastern Conference. With the Atlanta Dream nipping at their heels, the Sky are forced to pick up the intensity and there may be no better way than to knock off the conference leader.
