April 29, 2013

Galatasary topped Fenerbahce 64-59 in Game 1 of the Turkish League Finals. Sylvia contributed 7 points and 5 rebounds in 16 minutes of play. The following day Galatasaray dropped Game 2 to Fenerbahce 52-55. Sylvia had 14 points and 3 points in 21 minutes of action.

Game 3 of the Turkish League Finals will be played on April 29. The series is tied at 1-1.

In Game 2 of the semifinals, Fowles led Galatasaray to a 74-50 victory to take a 2-0 series lead over Istanbul University. Sylvia led the team with 18 points and 7 rebounds in 27 minutes. In Game 3, Galatasary fell 57-75. Sylvia recorded a double double with 11 points and 10 rebounds in the teams loss. Galatasary advanced to the Turkish League finals with a 72-52 victory in Game 4. Fowles did not play in this game.

Galatasary will face top seeded Fenerbahce in the Turkish League Finals beginning on April 25.

April 15, 2013

Galatasaray faced Antakya in the first round of the Turkish League Quarter Finals and earned a 1-0 lead in the series with their 67-61 win. Fowles had a double, double with 18 points and 12 rebounds in 33 minutes of action. In the second game of the series Galatasaray took a 67-52 win and with this series win they advanced to the Turkish League Semi Finals. Fowles had 8 points and 9 rebounds in 20 minutes of action.

The Semi Final round has Galatasaray matched up against Istanbul University. In Game one of the series Galatasaray squeaked out a 2 point victory 71-69. Fowles did not play in this game. The second game of the series will be held on April 16.

Galatasaray faced Antakya in the first round of the Turkish League Quarter Finals and earned a 1-0 lead in the series with their 67-61 win. Fowles had a double, double with 18 points and 12 rebounds in 33 minutes of action. The next game in the series will be April 9, 2013.

April 1, 2013

Galatasaray moved into second place in the Turkish League with a convincing 87-47 win over TED Ankara. They dominated down low with the help of Sylvia Fowles who posted 14 points, 7 rebounds and 3 assists in 24 minutes of action.

Galatasary took on fifth place Tarsus Bld on March 31 and had a convincing 75-56 win. Fowles had 25 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists in 31 minutes of action. Galatasaray remains in second place in the Turkish League.

Galatasaray completed their EuroLeague campaign last week with a 0-3 record in the Final 8 competition that was played in Ekaterinburg, Russia. In a 71-65 loss to Good Angels Kosice Fowles had 11 points and 10 rebounds in 28 minutes of action. Fowles followed up with 7 points and 7 rebounds in a 58-51 loss to CCC Polkowice and finished the tournament with 4 points and 2 rebounds in 15 minutes in a 72-44 loss to UMMC Ekaterinburg.

Galatasaray will take on TED Ankara on March 25th in their next Turkish League game.

Galatasaray begins their EuroLeague Final Eight campaign on 18th March against Good Angels Kosice followed by a match up against CCC Polkowice on March 19th and finishing with a game against Russian club UMMC Ekaterinburg on March 20th. The Final Eight is being held in Ekaterinburg, Russia.

Galatasaray is also in second place in the Turkish League with a 19-5 record and faced rival Fenerbahce on March 16th. Galatasaray fell 75-71 on their home court. Fowles did not play in this game. Galatasaray will take on TED Ankara on March 23rd in their next Turkish League game.

Galatasaray and Sylvia Fowles began their EuroLeague playoff campaign in Istanbul against Prague and came out on top in a close match 49-48. Sylvia Fowles had 9 points and 8 rebounds. Galatasaray were much more convincing in the second game defeating Prague 78-63 and earning their ticket into the Final Eight. Fowles played 14 minutes and had 8 points and 3 rebounds. The Final Eight will be hosted on March 18th / 19th in Ekaterinburg, Russia.

Galatasaray faced Mersin on March 6 and took a 77-68 loss. Fowles was big for Galatasaray with 21 points and 4 rebounds in 29 minutes of action. Galatasaray then defeated Antakya 60  49 on March 10 and Fowles had 18 points and 9 rebounds.

Galatasaray is now in outright second place in the Turkish League with a 19-4 record and will take on rival Fenerbahce on March 16 in their next Turkish League game.

Sylvia Fowles shot 80% from the floor for 10 points and she pulled in 6 rebounds but it wasnt enough to overcome the Russian team who were hungry for a win after suffering their first loss last week and Galatasaray were defeated 61-45. Galatasaray finished second in Group C with a 9-3 record and will begin the playoffs on February 27 against Prague.

Fowles had another double / double with 24 points and 11 rebounds in only 20 minutes of action which earned her the Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award in the Turkish League. Galatasaray climbed to second place in the Turkish League with a 1-3 record. Galatasaray will take on Istanbul University on February 13th in Round 18 of the Turkish League.

Galatasaray had a bye in Euroleague this past week. Galatasaray will take on Russian powerhouse Ekaterinburg in their next Euroleague match on 6th February, 2013.

Sylvia Fowles had a double / double with 14 points and 10 rebounds this week in the Turkish League but it wasnt enough as Galatasaray were beaten by Kayseri 72-68. Galatasaray scored another Euroleague win this past week as they defeated Perfumerias Avenida which includes Fowles Sky team mate Lecoe Willingham 68-56. Fowles had ten points and 5 rebounds in 22 minutes of action. Galatasaray will take on Perfumerias Avenida in their next Euroleague match on 23rd January, 2013.

Galatasaray & Sylvia Fowles dominated Samsun 87-38 on January 26th in the Turkish League. Galatasaray remain in second place in the Turkish League with a 13-2 record. Fowles had 16 points and 7 rebounds in 18 minutes of action. Galatasaray will take on Kayseri on February 2nd in Round 16 of the Turkish League.

Galatasaray were back in Euroleague action this past week and got back into the winners column by defeating French club USO Mondeville 70-59. Fowles had five points and 4 rebounds in 17 minutes of action. Galatasaray will take on Perfumerias Avenida in their next Euroleague match on 23rd January, 2013.

Galatasaray & Sylvia Fowles took on Ceyhan and Fowles Sky team mate Carolyn Swords on January 19th in the Turkish League. Galatasaray took a 77-62 win and remain in second place in the Turkish League with a 12-2 record. Fowles had 5 points and 4 rebounds in 12 minutes of action. Galatasaray will take on Samsun on January 26th in Round 15 of the Turkish League.

Galatasaray were back in Euroleague action this past week and were stunned by Polkowice who came into Istanbul and beat the Turkish Cup champions 58-51. Sylvia Fowles did not play in the game. Galatasaray will take on USO Mondeville and former Sky players Amanda Lassiter and K.B. Sharp in France in their next Euroleague match on 16th January, 2013.

Galatasaray returned to the winners podium against Tarsus on January 12 in the next round of Turkish League games. Galatasaray took a 79-57 win and remain in second place in the Turkish League with an 11-2 record. Sylvia Fowles did not play in the game.

Galatasaray competed in the Turkish Cup this past weekend where they defeated Antakya 73-69 in the first round before defeating Mersin 73-66 in the Semi Final. Sylvia Fowles had 12 points in the Semi Finals. Galatasaray advanced to the Final of the Turkish Cup where they faced Fenerbache and came away victorious with a hard fought 74-72 win giving them their tenth Turkish Cup victory. Sylvia Fowles did not play in the final game.

Galatasaray will face Tarsus on January 12 in the next round of Turkish League games.

Sylvia Fowles dominated as Galatasaray took a 66-52 win against Prague in the latest round of Euroleague. Fowles had a double, double with 22 points and 10 rebounds and Galatasaray remains in first place in Group C with a 7-1 record.

Galatasaray won a close match against Antakya 72-70, in the latest round of the Turkish League on December 22nd and Sylvia Fowles had another double, double with 13 points and 10 rebounds. Galatasaray will face Fenerbache on December 26 in the next round of Turkish League games.

Sylvia Fowles and Galatasaray took a 77-50 win against Croation club Novi Zagreb on December 12th and Fowles shot 100% from the floor for 12 points. She also had 3 rebounds and 3 blocked shots in the win.

Galatasaray beat Mersin 81-48, in the latest round of the Turkish League on December 15th and Sylvia Fowles had 17 points and 9 rebounds. Galatasaray will face Antakaya on December 22 in the next round of Turkish League games.

Sylvia Fowles and Galatasaray hosted Russian powerhouse UMMC Ekaterinburg on December 5th in Istanbul and this was Sylvia Fowles return to Euroleague action. Ekaterinburg returned to Russia with a one point win handing Galatasaray their first defeat in the Euroleague competition. Fowles had 13 points and 4 rebounds in the loss.

Galatasaray beat Canik Bld 71-56, in the latest round of the Turkish League on December 8th and Sylvia Fowles had 10 points and 6 rebounds in 20 minutes of action. Galatasaray will face Mersin on December 15 in the next round of Turkish League games.

Sylvia Fowles and Galatasaray remains undefeated with a 5-0 record in Euroleague after a bye week but face a big challenge as they host Russian powerhouse UMMC Ekaterinburg on December 5th in Istanbul. Galatasaray defeated Botas 67-54, in the Turkish League on December 1st and this was Sylvia Fowles first game back after weeks on the sideline due to injury. Fowles had 8 points and 4 rebounds in 17 minutes of action. Galatasaray will face Canik Bld on December 8th in the next round of Turkish League games.

Galatasaray won both their contests this past week as they defeated Perfumerias Avenida, 79-69, on November 21st in Euroleague action to improve to 5-0 and Besiktas in the Turkish League, 81-43, on November 24th. Fowles did not play in either game. Galatasarays next Turkish League game will be on December 1st against Botas followed by a battle against UMMC Ekaterinburg in Euroleague action on December 5th.

Galatasaray pulled out another two-point win in the Euroleague, to stay undefeated and improve to 3-0, as they escaped with a 50-48 win over CCC Polkowice on November 7th. On November 11th against Edremit Belediye, Galatasaray coasted to a 100-42 blowout win. Fowles did not play in either contest. Galatasarays next Euroleague game will be on November 14th when they battle against French club USO Mondeville followed by a game with Istanbul University on November 17th in the Turkish League.

The team split a pair of games this past week as they squeaked out a 58-56 victory over USK Praha on October 31st in Euroleague action before losing three days later to Kayseri 64-70 in the Turkish League. Fowles did not play in either contest. Galatasarays next Euroleague game will be on November 7th when they clash with CCC Polkowice followed by a date with Edremir on November 11th in the Turkish League.

Sylvia Fowles is back playing for Galatasaray in Turkey, this being her third season with the club. Currently they are undefeated through three games this year. Fowles and Galatasaray easily disposed of Novi Zagreb on October 24th in their first Euroleague game as they coasted to a 79-48 victory. Fowles dominated the paint as she recorded a double-double with ten points and 16 rebounds. Fowles also recorded two steals and a block in the game. Galatasarays next Euroleague game will be on October 31st when they take on USK Praha and three days later against Kayseri in the Turkish League.

October 22, 2012

Sylvia Fowles is playing overseas for Galatasaray in Turkey as her team began the season with a 66-51 win over Sky teammate Carolyn Swords Ceyhan Belediyespor. Fowles registered 17 minutes of action off the bench as she finished the game with five points, three rebounds, three steals and two assists. Fowles and Galatasarays next games will be on October 24th when they play Courtney Vandersloot and Novi Zagreb and then Samsun three days later on October 27th.
