Newark Community High School Named Action Floor Systems High School Team of the Week"

Newark Community High School is a small school of about 300 students in Newark, IL. However, the JV girls basketball team have been big achievers for their school finishing a perfect 20-0 season and being named Conference Champions. The team dominated the final game of their season on Tuesday night, against Moosehead High School with a 53-13 victory. The undefeated season sets a new record for Newark Community High School athletic teams.

Toward the middle of the season, coach, didnt want us to get lazy because we were doing so well. So he came up with a motto for us that stuck the rest of the season, dont be a good teambe ballers, said Jessica, a freshman center on the team. That gave us the motivation and drive to keep playing at our very best.

Off the court, each player is responsible for giving back to their community and they can be found volunteering their time at youth basketball clinics throughout the year, church events, and various other community events and activities.

As an Action Floor Systems High School Team of the Week award winner, the team will be provided a complimentary Team Night Out ticket package to a 2012 Sky regular season home game at Allstate Arena, where they will have the opportunity to watch the worlds best female basketball players. During the game, they will be honored on court and will receive an award to recognize their accomplishments.

The Sky will recognize a new High School Team of the Week award winner every week until February 17, 2012. To nominate a team for the Action Floor Systems High School Team of the Week, click here. The Sky will accept nominations from parents, coaches, faculty members, and players.
