A Wish Comes True For Sky Fan Reagan Russell

Of all the people who came to watch the Chicago Sky play Saturday night, Reagan Russell, age 11, may have wanted to see them play the most. Months ago Reagan was diagnosed with a life threatening disease and one of her wishes was to see the Chicago Sky play. The Make-A-Wish Foundation partnered with the Chicago Sky to give Reagan an experience she would never forget.

I really like the Sky team and wanted to see them play, said Reagan. My favorite player is Cathrine Kraayeveld, number 33.

Reagan and her family got a to sit courtside to watch the Sky take on the Los Angeles Sparks for her wish. Reagan and her family were invited to come early and walk around on the court before the game and receive a special tour of the Arena. During a time out Reagan and her two sisters also participated in an on-court game in front of the Sky fans.

My favorite part of the game was getting to go on the court with my sisters for the Jewel Bounce game. It was so much fun, said Reagan.

The Make-A-Wish Foundation has given hope, strength and joy to children with life-threatening medical conditions for over 20 years. The Make-A-Wish Foundation is celebrating its 25 anniversary of helping children and now grants a dream every 40 minutes.

What they have done for us has really been amazing, said Reagans father Randy. They have given us the trip to the game for this great experience and they are also setting us up with a cruise for Disney. They have given us everything we need for these trips, they have been so great to us.

This was all Reagans idea to come to the game tonight, he continued. She has been to one before with her basketball team, and she was the one who really wanted to come and thought it was cool to bring all of us with. I never really got into basketball until the kids started to play and it has really grew on me. Reagan is a big basketball fan and we are just happy to come.

After the game Reagan and her family got to go into the locker room and meet the team and her favorite player Cathrine Kraayeveld. Regan spoke to the team and the Sky all signed a T-shirt and a ball for her. When Reagan left the locker room, she could not have smiled any bigger or brighter and even though the players took a loss that night they were winners in Reagans eyes.
