Chicago Sky staff and the Lewis University Flyers womens basketball team held a youth basketball clinic last Saturday, February 4 at Neil Carey Arena in Romeoville. The clinic focused on the basic fundamentals of the game and included shooting, defense and passing techniques. The 65 Youth in attendance were thrilled to be taught by Lewis University players, coaches and Sky staff.
A lot of kids had a really good time, said Julie Bielawski, youth basketball coordinator for the Chicago Sky. Most of the kids have never been to a Sky clinic or game for that matter, so it was nice to target a new area and raise the awareness of the Sky. The kids learned a lot and did a great job.
At the conclusion of the clinic, participants enjoyed a pizza party and a question and answer session with Lewis University Flyer players, coaches and Sky staff. Clinic participants also received tickets to watch the Flyers take on the Bellarmine University Knights and were rewarded with a win, as the Flyers defeated Bellarmine 88-84. The clinic participants will also to attend the 2012 Chicago Sky home opener against the Indiana Fever on Friday, May 25 at 7:30pm where they will witness the game played at the highest level.
