Lane Tech Team of the Week

Lane Tech - High School Team of the Week

The Lane Tech Lady Indians won the Girls High School Basketball Chicago North conference, and advanced to postseason play. They finished the 2012-13 season with a 14-13 record. The team worked hard on court all year but they were also focused off court in finding ways they could give back to their local community.

Throughout the season, the Lady Indians also demonstrated success off the court through their work in the local community. The Varsity girls volunteered their time to work with their academic center grammar school girls team to work on basketball skills. The players took it upon themselves to organize and participate in the program and the coaches had no part in it says Coach Corrine Ulmer. The players were willing to give up their free time to undertake the program. The Lady Indians also hosted a game on January 16th where spectators were asked to wear purple to raise awareness for a non-profit organization called Project Purple. Project Purple is an organization working to bring awareness to drug addiction and abuse. The Lady Indians plan to continue this program in the future.

As a Chicago Sky Girls High School Basketball Team of the Week award winner, the team will be provided a complimentary Team Night Out ticket package to the 2013 Sky Youth Sports Night game on June 29 at Allstate Arena, where they will have the opportunity to watch the worlds best female basketball players. During the game, they will be honored on court and will receive an award to recognizing their accomplishments.

The Sky will recognize a varsity girls High School Basketball Team of the Week award winner every week until March 27th, 2013. To nominate a team for the Chicago Sky Girls High School Basketball Team of the Week, click here.
